An apprenticeship at LUHFT is an opportunity to begin your career with one of the largest employers in Merseyside and support the delivery of healthcare to our community.
What can you bring to LUHFT?
Are you a caring and compassionate individual who thrives in helping people and wants to make a difference to everyone you meet? Do you respect others and always show them dignity? Are you dedicated to doing the best you can every day, being part of a team supporting patients, visitors and colleagues?
What LUHFT can give you
Our apprenticeship programmes are extremely successful and we have received regional and national recognition for the quality of the programmes we provide.
As an apprentice, you will be provided with high quality learning linked with your role and you will achieve a nationally recognised qualification, including maths and English if required.
You will earn while you learn – the starting salary for apprentices is Band 2 but this will differ depending on the apprenticeship role/qualification.
At LUHFT, we strive to be the best and want to help you achieve your best too. We offer a wide range of apprenticeships to suit your potential and help you on your journey to a long and happy career in the NHS.
We recruit apprentices at different times of the year and will be advertising vacancies in the following areas:
- Clinical healthcare as a Nursing Assistant

Where will I be working?
The majority of our apprentices will work at one or all of our three hospital sites – Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital and The Royal Liverpool University Hospital - however there may be a requirement to work off-site as part of your role, you will be supported in this as you learn your role. Details will be provided on individual job adverts.
How much holiday will I be entitled to?
You will be entitled to 27 days’ annual leave per year plus any additional public / bank holidays. You will need to agree with your line manager when you can take your annual leave to ensure that patient care is covered and that the correct skill mix is available at all times.
How will I complete my apprenticeship qualification?
You will be enrolled on an appropriate apprenticeship for your role and you will attend classroom sessions or 1-1 delivery with a tutor. There will be written assignments, observations and portfolio building in addition to a final assessment to evidence your competence.
How will I be supported?
Apprentices will be supported by their manager and a buddy in their department as well as their college tutor. If you have any additional needs these will be assessed and appropriate additional support will be provided.
